Turkey Gravy with Protein

You can make this delicious gravy recipe using turkey or even chicken stock if you want to enjoy this savory sauce without cooking a whole turkey dinner.

If you already have a preference for a thickener, you can use either cornstarch or flour, but the recommendation is for cornstarch if you have no objections. You may also want to melt a tablespoon of butter or margarine in the pot before adding the pan drippings to get a thicker, creamier gravy.

You can easily scale this recipe up or down by keeping equal parts drippings or stock to boiling water and scoops of protein powder.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups turkey drippings or turkey stock
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 2 scoops Allo Natural protein powder
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch or flour
  • 3/4 cup cold water
  • 1-2 teaspoons salt
  • 1-2 teaspoons black pepper

Instructions:

  1. After you remove your roasted turkey from the oven, strain the turkey drippings from the roasting pan and transfer the liquid to a medium sauce pot.
  2. Boil 2 cups of water in a kettle.
  3. Add the boiling water to the dripping and set the pot to medium-high heat and bring to a boil.
  4. In a small bowl or measuring cup, mix your cornstarch or flour with 1/2 a cup of cold water adding another 1/4 cup if needed to fully dissolve the powder.
  5. Turn the pot down to medium-low heat before slowly sprinkling in your Allo Natural protein powder, whisking constantly.
  6. Once the protein powder is fully dissolved, add small amounts of the cornstarch/flour and water mix to the gravy until you get to the desired consistency.
  7. Season with salt and pepper to taste, transfer to a serving dish and enjoy over your meat and mashed potatoes.
